UPDATE: EVENT CANCELLED — Slow Food and preSERVE are joining forces, and you can help them.

UPDATE: EVENT CANCELLED. It’s just too darn cold, and the ground is still very much frozen. We’ll post a new date if we get one.

Slow Food Chicago and preSERVE Garden have an exciting partnership. Here’s how you can join them on their first workday of the year.

Volunteers needed!

Spring is here, and we need your help on Saturday, March 23rd to kick off another successful growing season at the preSERVE Garden in North Lawndale!  With your help, last year we raised a huge crop of sweet potatoes, peas, and more.  Join us as we continue to green-ify the neighborhood and teach the value of growing and eating fresh, healthy foods.

From 10:00 am – 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 23rd, volunteers will spread planting material on the garden beds, clear out debris from the last growing season, and plant greens and radishes.   This is heavy work, so be prepared!  Wear work clothes and shoes and bring work gloves if you have them.Spaces are limited, please RSVP.We’re using VolunteerSpot (an online signup and reminder tool) to organize our work days this year.To sign up for preSERVE Garden Work Days – here’s how it works in 3 easy steps:1.
