The votes have been tabulated, and it looks like our very own Growing Exchange garden at 8805 S Exchange has won a visit from the Burpee Seed Truck. The Burpee Truck will visit on May 8th, giving away seedlings, produce, cooking demos, and more. Congratulation, gardeners!

South Chicago People’s Park

In the South Chicago area there’s a park aptly named the South Chicago’s People’s Park that is open to everyone irregardless of age, their gender or their ethnicity. The park contains more than 175 shrubs, plants and trees, a performance stage, patio and tile mosaic created by local youth.

Community Exchange Garden

The “garden of hope” in the South Chicago neighborhood went through a period of decline as this Chicago block was overrun by street violence. Eventually, the residents and the Centro Communitario Juan Diego decided to take action and reclaimed their neighborhood, their lives and their garden.
