Fourth Annual MLK Food Justice Weekend “Shmita: Food Security and Sustainable Design in the Sabbatical Year and Beyond”

KAM Isaiah Israel Congregation will honor the life and work of Martin Luther King Jr. with their annual weekend long education and advocacy program focused on food security and
sustainable design, January 18th – 20th, 2013.

All events are held at KAMII at 1100 East Hyde Park Boulevard and are free of charge and open
to the public.

8:30 p.m. – Presentation by Devorah Brous- “Seeds of Change From Torah to Permaculture: Moving Toward Sustainable Food Security.”

Saturday, January 19

4:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Community Design Workshop
“Food Security and Sustainable Urban Farming: A Case Study”

Sunday, January 20

Beginning at 10:30 a.m

A Day of Workshops led by well known organizations including Urban Worm Girl, Bike-A-Bee, Counter Culture Coffee and Lake Street Landscape Supply.
