The NeighborSpace Gallery

This section of NeighborSpace's website provides Melon flowersa glimpse of some of the community-managed gardens and parks NeighborSpace is helping to protect.

These stories about and insights into community gardening were collected from NeighborSpace's community partners - the leaders and community groups responsible for transforming these once vacant lots.

Feel free to select the garden names on the left to find out more about these amazing urban spaces.

You will notice that some of these gardens and parks were established well before NeighborSpace was formed. This alone is testimony to the history community gardening has in Chicago. The date of NeighborSpace's partnership marks the day the land was successfully secured by NeighborSpace on behalf of the community partners.

While NeighborSpace provides support, security, and organization to the process of land protection, it is the long-term commitment of these community leaders and groups such as those interviewed here that makes these gardens possible.
