How to Get Involved

NeighborSpace welcomes your support and participation!

As you might imagine, with so many gardens and parks already protected and supported by NeighborSpace, and more on the way, this “growing” community needs a variety of resources.

Why Donate?

NeighborSpace plays a very specific and critical role in the Chicago area's larger movement to preserve and expand green space.Handful of tomatoes

Specifically, NeighborSpace purchases and protects scarce and often threatened properties on behalf of the communities that so carefully create and tend them, ensuring that community managed open spaces will add to the neighborhood's quality of life for years to come.

NeighborSpace also provides general liability insurance for these spaces, giving community members an increased sense of safety.

These are crucial activities that can protect these properties from redevelopment and ease the burden of community leaders and organizations wanting to ensure the survival of their hard work without having to shoulder the responsibilities of acquisition, ownership or liability for the site.

NeighborSpace is also building its outreach capacity: Through planned website enhancements and future workshops and seminars, we will connect Garden Leaders and other volunteers to resources that help sustain and improve open green space.

Reviewing applications, researching properties, acquiring land, providing insurance, and being an effective steward of these sites takes time and financial resources.

And NeighborSpace is busier than ever as requests from community groups are on the rise so your support is now more important than ever.
